    I think the more I know, the more I worry, contrary to what she said. She describes it as a “cold sore down there.” A cold sore may not seem like a big deal to some, but cold sores are nonetheless herpes simplex, and it is a significant infection. I’m sorry, but I do not find this helpful.

    Not alot of people have that courage. Most of us are weak.

    I get cold sores and have tried everything… Right now my favorit solution is vygone. For me it has worked great and I can use it on lots of different outbreaks. Hopefully someday soon we will have a permanant solution to this stupid virus.

    I see that I got negative ratings for my comments, but I still feel the same. I feel sorry for people with herpes, but I don’t think I could date one, out of fear of contracting it (even if it’s oral herpes). I do not want to get cold sores. I have never had one, and I don’t want that to change. But people say it’s common, and that it can be spread even when no lesions are present, so I don’t know what I can do, and I’m scared. :(

    Jijub80, guess what… You wouldn’t be dating then mate. 80% of the adult population carry the HSV 1virus, so good luck in finding a partner not carrying the virus. It makes it even harder since something like 70% don’t even know they have it. One in five have genital herpes. Crawl under a rock and bring a bottle of hand sanitizer. Might be your safest bet ;-)

  9. CerpinTaxt37 says:

    @Jibjub80

    1 in 4 women have it.
    1 in 5 men have it.
    2/3 don’t know they have it, or confuse it with something else.

    Although unlikely, it can be passed when symptoms aren’t present.

    Standard STD checks do NOT include herpes among testing (the physical problems are miniscule compared to the unfortunate psychological/social problems; this is the reasoning)

    Obviously if you can’t already tell, I have herpes.

    Now, why are you more worried than me?

    wat did she say she uses…topical treatments?

    What a wonderful way to describe this “shocking” news that most feel first hand.
    I loved Marian’s honesty, and kindness most of all.

  14. arthur84 says:

    @whatthepoopo There’s no such thing as “unlucky” when you’re banging someone without a rubber.

  15. stoleethatsme says:

    @arthur84 You can acquire genital herpes WITH or WITHOUT a condom. You can contract GENITAL HERPES from someone w/ORAL herpes. If someone has oral herpes, which most people reference to as cold sores, if they are experiencing a visible or invisible breakout they can pass the active virus to some1 through oral sex. Cold sores and genital herpes are almost the same virus, just located on different parts of the body. Most people either have 1 or the other. Most people acquire oral during childhood.

  16. bbughtiful says:

    @Jibjub80 what sort of help were you looking for? If you do not find this helpful it is only because you are closed minded. Herpes is not a significant infections!! That is the point! Get over it!

  17. bddblade says:

    Seems unreal 80% of the world has herpes.

  18. Phoenix1664 says:

    @bddblade Yeah i heard that too, its really wierd. Apparently 75% of people have some form for herpes (genital is less common that oral), however 80% of that 75% are asymptomatic. That means they have the virus, but they do not have the symptoms (namely coldsore outbreak). Its easilly possible for people, to contract herpes at any point in their life and then live out their whole life, without ever getting any coldsores whatsoever! Some people are simply more suseptable to the virus than others.

    Safe sex is very important. Genital herpes can be more difficult to diagnose than oral herpes since most HSV-2-infected persons have no classical symptoms. Each year, about 23.6 million people ages 15 to 49 get the disease. In the United States, only 10 percent to 25 percent of those with the virus are aware they have it. and at the same time,there are many herpes and STD dating website appeared, HerpesMate ,c om, is one of them,its said that have more than 680,000 active members.

  20. ImNotYourFriend212 says:

    I have genital herpes type 1. Every night I pray that the guy who gave it to me can be murdered in a very painful way. It sucks because no one wants to have sex with me, and the ones who do only use me for THEIR pleasures. I feel like I have to sleep around and hope that someone will like me or want to touch me because I feel so disgusting. I just want to be loved even with this monster but maybe im not worth it. idk…

    @Imnotyourfriend212 hey just remember that the people who really love you won’t care what you have and will love you for who you are. You are beautifal and most important you are you and never forget who you are because of something like this.

  24. vdimaio77 says:

    @ImNotYourFriend212
    I totally agree with you.
